OVERVIEW

Dangerous goods are substances that when transported are a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. Certain dangerous goods that pose risks even when not being transported are known as hazardous materials. Therefore, the movement of dangerous goods is regulated by various national and international regulations. This training will discuss the types of dangerous goods and how to handle them according to rules.

MATERI

1. Regulatory Compliance:
   • Understand regulations such as OSHA, DOT, and IATA.
   • Stay updated on local and international laws regarding hazardous materials.
2. Types of Dangerous Goods:
   • Identify various classes (e.g., flammable, toxic, corrosive).
   • Understand the specific properties and risks associated with each type.
3. Safety Procedures:
   • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
   • Implement proper labeling and signage for hazardous materials
   • Establish emergency procedures for spills or leaks
4. Handling and Storage:
   • Train on the use of containment systems (e.g., spill kits).
   • Follow guidelines for segregating incompatible materials.
5. Transportation:
   • Understand packaging requirements for shipping dangerous goods
   • Train on proper documentation and labeling for transport
6. Emergency Response:
   • Conduct drills to prepare for potential incidents
   • Train employees on first aid and emergency evacuation procedures
7. Record Keeping:
   • Maintain accurate records of training and incidents
   • Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are accessible
